DBLax Frequently Asked Questions

How much will it cost for 2022?

The Board of Directors for DBLax will review and approve fees for 2022 in September, 2021. Our goal is to continue to keep this cost as low as possible. The player fee for the 2021 Spring season was $375 for a full season, plus $35-$55 to join US Lacrosse. If a parent chooses to coach, their player fee will be waived. Our plan for 2022 is to make sure the fees can cover a uniform, referee fees, game registration fees, insurance, field use fees, program administration and miscellaneous equipment needed for practices and games. We await approval from our BOD for this plan.

Are scholarships available?

Yes.  A reduced player fee of $100 (plus US lax membership) is available to families experiencing financial hardship. There will be a minimum of three scholarships available. Email or for an application.

What kind of fundraising do the parents have to do?

We ask that you help us sell raffle tickets when available, promote the sport through lawn signs and flyers and posting to our Facebook and Instagram accounts, encourage purchase of swag (hats, shirts, visors) and contribute to the cost when we have team parties.  We try to avoid the candy bar/gift wrap/coupon book campaigns as much as possible.

Is equipment available to borrow?

Yes, but our stock is diminishing. Loaner equipment is issued on a first come first serve basis, and must be returned at the end of the lacrosse season or if not in use. Ensuring new players can try out the sport without spending a fortune on gear is important to us!

Can girls play?

Of course!  It is our priority to field girls’ teams!  The 2021 season saw our first girl's team play 5 games and win every one - undefeated! We encourage girls to play on the girls' teams and not the boys' teams, as the rules are very different for each.  However, if a girl would really rather play by the boys' rules on the boy's team, we'll support that.

Can we use our own equipment?

We would rather you did! And in fact, we can offer a 20% discount if you buy equipment from Lacrosse Fanatic online. Equipment is also available at Play it Again Sports in Dublin, Concord or Stockton. We want to keep reusing the donated equipment to grow the program each year and continue to remove the monetary barriers to youth sports.

What do I have to do to be a coach?

We ask you to commit your time to practices and games, and to the certification process endorsed by NCJLA and US Lacrosse.  These certification classes are online and will pay the class fees associated with your training.
